About Our Service

Masonry that fits your Redondo Beach home and lasts decades.

Redondo Beach Masonry designs and builds custom masonry for Redondo Beach-area homeowners and property managers. Retaining walls on hillside lots, natural stone veneer and accents, patios and paving, concrete slabs and driveways — if it's stone, brick, block, paver, or concrete, we do it. We bring real material samples to your house so you see them in your own light before we break ground.

How We Work

Site walk, design, permit, build. One crew chief from start to cleanup.

1. Site walk and design

We walk your property, take measurements, talk through the look you want (block, brick, cap stone, mortar joint style, color), and draft a design.

2. Engineering and permit

Walls over three feet need engineered drawings and a Redondo Beach permit. We handle both. Drainage and footing depth designed for your soil.

3. Build

Excavation, footing pour, drainage installation, course-by-course wall build, capping, and pointing. Final cleanup and a walk-through.

When You Need Masonry

Masonry work is the right call when:

  • You have a slope, hillside, or grade change — terracing, retaining walls, or stabilizing a yard.
  • You want a permanent outdoor feature — wall, patio, walkway, driveway, fire pit, column, or stone accent.
  • Existing concrete, stucco, or stonework is cracked, sinking, or aging out — usually cheaper to rebuild right than to patch repeatedly.
  • You’re remodeling outdoors — stone, brick, paver, and concrete anchor the design and last decades longer than wood or asphalt.
  • The project needs engineering or a permit — walls over 3 ft, structural slabs, ADUs, gas features, and full façades.
  • You want real materials, not faux — natural stone, clay brick, true masonry, and properly poured concrete.

Tell us what you're planning — wall, stonework, patio, or concrete — and we'll come out for a free on-site walk and design. Call: (310) 651-7257

What Affects the Cost of Masonry

Masonry pricing depends on the scope of the project. The drivers across walls, stonework, patios, and concrete:

  • Square footage or linear footage. Bigger jobs amortize setup cost; small jobs cost more per foot.
  • Material. CMU block and broom-finish concrete are the most affordable; clay brick and concrete pavers are mid-range; cut stone, natural flagstone, and stamped or exposed-aggregate concrete are top tier.
  • Engineering and permits. Walls over 3 feet, structural slabs, ADU foundations, gas-fired features, and full façades need engineered drawings and a permit.
  • Site prep and access. Excavation depth, footings, base rock, hillside lots, and tight backyards all add labor time.
  • Drainage and reinforcement. Retaining walls need French drains and weep holes; slabs and patios need rebar grids and control jointing.
  • Finish details. Cap stones, mortar joint style, paver pattern, integrally colored concrete, and decorative texture all add labor and material.
  • Demolition. Tearing out and hauling off old concrete, pavers, or stucco adds a line item.

We'll quote your project flat-rate after the site walk — materials, labor, engineering, permits, and cleanup included.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to build a wall in Redondo Beach?

Most residential walls are 1–3 weeks from breaking ground to cleanup. Engineering and permit can add 2–4 weeks before that.

Do I need a permit?

Walls over three feet typically need a permit and engineered drawings in Redondo Beach. We handle the permit and engineering coordination.

What's the difference between block, brick, and stone-veneered walls?

CMU block is the structural workhorse, often veneered with brick or stone. Brick is timeless and good value. Cut stone veneer is premium and unique. We’ll show you samples in your light.

Will the wall last?

Yes — properly engineered and drained masonry walls last 50+ years. The two failure modes are bad drainage and undersized footing, both of which we engineer around.

Are you licensed?

Yes — we’re a licensed California masonry contractor, fully insured and bonded. License number and insurance certificate on request.
